Red Ribbon Week
October 23-27, 2017


Monday, October 23rd:

  • “Follow Your Dreams and Don’t Do Drugs” (Wear your pajamas)

  • Essay Day (Write an essay about why you shouldn't do drugs. Turn in your essay to the office before 8th period. Prizes for 1-3rd place!)


Tuesday, October 24th:

  • “Hide from Drugs” (Wear your camouflage)

  • Poster Contest Begins (Design and create a poster about being drug free. Hang your poster anywhere in the Junior High hallway. A panel of judges will judge the posters Thursday afternoon. Winners will be announced Friday. Prizes for 1-3rd place!)

  • Game: Guess the amount of tootsie rolls.


Wednesday, October 25th:

  • “Don’t be Tacky about Drugs” (Tacky Day)

  • Winner for tackiest dressed!


Thursday, October 26th:

  • “Stand Against Bullying” (Wear red, white, and blue)

  • “Dead Day”


Friday, October 27th:

  • “OWL Never Do Drugs” (Wear owl attire- red and white)

  • Poster winners announced!

CJH Visits UAM's Early Childhood Development Center

Students mentored text (wrote their own version) from 5 Little Monkeys. Students used props to act out their original creation and presented their final projects at UAM's Early Childhood Development Center. 

District III Jr. FBLA

District III Jr. FBLA held Fall Conference last week at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.  In the conference, Conner Jr. High's President Allison R.'s and the other presidents for each school were recognized and sworn in.  Guest speaker David (DJ) Williams, of channel 4, KARK in Little Rock was the motivational speaker.

Soil and Water Project

CJH students, Grayson M., Joseph M., Logan C., Matthew I., Jeramiah R., and Carson R., are very excited to introduce their Soil and Water Project for the Lexus Challenge. The team will begin testing water and soil next to the school and ponds in Desha County. Team members will present their project at Owlfest on October 7th, 2017.

Duke TIP's Talent Search

Christy Binns, GT Coordinator, explains the Duke TIP Program to qualifying 7th grade recipients. Enrollment in the program provides benefits that last through the end of high school, including the opportunity to take the ACT, specialized publications, college prep advice, and access to educational programs.
