MCGEHEE - McGehee High School Principal Justin Holt will take on the role of the district's new assistant superintendent. The McGehee School Board made the decision in a meeting March 25, 2024.

Holt joined the McGehee School District as principal in 2019. He earned a bachelors degree in 2012 from UAPB, an MSE in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State in 2019, and an ED.S. in Educational Leadership from ASU in 2021. In addition to his degrees, Holt has participated in numerous leadership trainings since joining the district including completing the Master Principal Phase I with the Arkansas Leadership Academy. He will complete the Highly Effective School Leadership Program with AAEA.

"As Superintendent of McGehee Schools, I am excited to have Mr. Holt joining our administrative team as Assistant Superintendent," said Linda Tullos. "I look forward to mentoring and working closely with Mr. Holt to fulfill the mission and vision of McGehee School District. Mr. Holt offers a fresh perspective that will move our district forward making the district the leader in our region. Mr. Holt has many qualities and skills which will make him an asset to our district."

Holt said he and his wife Rachel, a health teacher for Virtual Arkansas, and their two-year-old daughter Emersyn are grateful McGehee has become their home. Rachel's parents have also joined the southeast Arkansas community, retiring and moving from Washington state.

Holt said that while he is excited about his new position and humbled by the opportunity, for now he will remain focused on serving in his capacity as high school principal. "Breaking the news to staff and students was easily the hardest part," said Holt. "We have all done so much growing in the last five years and it is hard to leave that. But the new challenge of looking at the District as a whole excites me and I am excited for what the future holds. We still have a school year to finish, state testing coming up, and graduation to prepare for, so that is my focus right now."
